We are thrilled to bring you the 2024 Onion Days Festival. This year we bring you KALITA Magic! An exciting addition to our lineup on Saturday. Additionlly, we will have the International Harvester Collectors Chapter 33 participating in this year's festival tractor show. We are looking forward to a full vendor setup, from crafts to delicious food, great music, and a genuinely great time for all who come out.
We continue with our giving back to the community with our yearly progressive euchre tournament where 100% of all money paid to play is donated to a great cause. It's $10.00 to play and it helps our community. Not only do you get to help with a cause, you have the chance to win a $50.00 gift certificate to Marlow's Pizza. Second place gets a $25.00 gift certificate to Marlow's Pizza. So, if you think you have the skills to beat some pretty awesome players, come on down to the VFW on Saturday to show off those skills. Who says you can't help others while having a great time?
We are giving out cash prizes for this year's 5k Color Run.. If you think you can outrun that chalk cloud aimed right at you, good luck! And if you want to help make that chalk cloud, come on out to watch and participate in chalking up our runners.
Just a reminder, there is NO Smoking in the park and dogs are not allowed in the park. As much as we love seeing your furbabies, we feel it is best to keep them safe at home. This decision is for the safety of the community, as well as your pet. We hope you understand.
We want to thank all of our donors and sponsors for their donations. Additionally, we would like to thank all who volunteer to coordinate some of our events. We are greatful to all our vendors who come to our festival. With a huge heart of gratitude, we are thankful to our wonderful community, who come out every year to support Onion Days. With your continued support, we can continue growing and offering new ideas for a better festival. Thank You!
Charles “Chuck” Sweeney was born in East St. Louis, Illinois, and moved to Fort Wayne, Indiana, as a youngster. After graduation from North Side High School, he entered the US Navy serving aboard the destroyer, USS KD Bailey from 1955-1958. He was employed as an x-ray technician, then as a service technician for Pitney Bowes. In his semi-retirement years he drove for Council on Aging, finally retiring in 2024.
Janet was born in Marion, Indiana, and after graduation from Van Buren High School she attended Parkview School of Nursing. She was employed by Dr. Robert Shugart as an orthopedic office/scrub nurse for 11 years, then as school nurse at West Noble School Corporation until retirement in 2007.
Chuck and Janet were married in 1965. They are the parents of three children, Elizabeth (deceased), Vicki, and Laura; grandparents of nine and great-grandparents of thirteen children. Charles and Janet moved to Noble County in the spring of 1973 to an existing “pick-your-own” fruit farm in Washington township.
Trees were removed in the mid-1990s and the land was placed in row crops. At that time housewives who regularly picked fruit for their families were taking factory jobs to help keep the family income above water making this business unprofitable.
They attend Living Water Lutheran Church in Wolf Lake and volunteer at the church food pantry. They are active in Stone’s Trace Historical Society and members of Noble County Master Gardeners.
Please plan to join us August 2&3 at the 13th annual Wolf Lake Onion Day’s Tractor Show. This year the feature will be International Harvester / Farmall and our biggest show yet. Several members of the International Harvester Collectors Club Chapter #33 will be joining us this year. Registrationbegins at 12:00 pm on Friday. If you have any questions please contact Mark Beck 260 - 239 - 5081. See you there!

Because of their many years of volunteering to be a part of the Wolf Lake Onion Days, we are honored to have Kathy & Jr. Gray as Honorary Lifetime Board Members. They may have "retired" from the Onion Days Committee, but they still contribute their time and resources to help bring a wonderful festival to our community. Thank you, Kathy and Jr., for your love and commitment to Wolf Lake Onion Days!
